The History of Perguruan “Cikini”

In Indonesia, Perguruan “Cikini” is the oldest basic institution after Taman Siswa. Its’ birth was due to the demand of the need of education. On its’ tramp, it was soon realized that this education institution had a mission which would last for eternity. This mission soon became the main pole of the institution on its’ effort to reach the goal of the nation.

Sekolah Rakyat Partikelir “Mayumi” was established on August 1^st 1942. At that time, Indonesia had not even proclaimed its’ independence. The birth which started from the anxiety of a mother due to the closing of all schools in Jakarta by the Japanese imperialist. Mrs. Pandoe Soeradhiningrat and her friends were the ones who worried about the condition. She imagined how awful it was to see a child wandering around on the street and not going to school. Eventually, a course of Bahasa Indonesia was established.

In 1952, the charitable body “Mayumi” was changed into “Jajasan Perguruan Tjikini” (strengthen with the notary certificate number 37 by Mr. R. Soewandi, on September 27^th ,1952).

Until now, the education under the shade of Yayasan Perguruan “Cikini” consists of:

• TK – SD – SMP at the campus of Cikini Raya No 74-76 Central Jakarta
• Sekolah Menengah Musik (SMM) Perguruan “Cikini” at the campus of Cikini Raya No 74-76 Central Jakarta
• SMK Perguruan “Cikini” on Jl. Alur Laut Blok NN/1 Plumpang North Jakarta ( Field of expertise in Technology)
• SMA Perguruan “Cikini” on Jl. PLN Duren Tiga No.1 South Jakarta
• TK – SD – SMP – SMA Perguruan “Cikini” Kertas Nusantara in Mengkajang Berau East Kalimantan.
• National Science and Technology Institute (ISTN) on Jl. Moh Kahfi II Jagakarsa Srengseng Sawah South Jakarta.
